Back in September of 2023 Upper Merion Township was awarded a $3.6 Million federal "SAFER" Grant to assist in providing 24/7 coverage for Fire & EMS. After a strenuous process twelve individuals were chosen to join our team. With expanding in such a large jump comes training. Upper Merion Township in conjunction with Montgomery County Fire Academy along with multiple other agencies put on a eight week training academy catered to the operations of Upper Merion Township. Recruits were put through multiple classes along with live burns and response scenarios that they could encounter in the Township. After the eight weeks the twelve recruits graduated in a ceremony at Upper Merion Middle School.
