By Lieutenant Curll
August 30, 2022

Shortly before midnight on Saturday August 27th, Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS and Engine & Quint 54 (Bridgeport Fire Department) were dispatched to the unit block of Manor Ln. in the King Manor Section of the Township for a reported basement fire. Engine 56-3 (Curll), Rescue 56-3 (Zimmermann), and Deputy 56-2 (Orangers) were returning from another call during dispatch. Engine 56-3 arrived shortly after dispatch to a two story end of row with smoke showing. Engine 56-3’s Officer confirmed a working basement fire and requested the Working Fire Dispatch. The crew from Engine and Rescue 56-3 stretched a line to the interior basement stairs to attack the fire. Deputy 56-2 arrived and established command. The Working Fire Dispatch brought Engine 24 (Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company), Engine and Quint 27 (Norristown Fire Department), Quint 39 (George Clay Fire Company), and Rescue 43 (Plymouth Fire Company No. 1) for RIT. Engine 54 arrived and pulled a back up line and conducted searches. The crew from Engine 56-1 (King of Prussia Vol. Fire Co.) was assigned IRIT and Quint & Engine 27 assisted with ventilation. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes of arrival. One resident was transported for minor burns. Units were clear of the scene by 02:00 Hrs. Good work by all!
