Three Fires in Five Days

Upper Merion Fire & EMS responded to three dwelling fires in a five-day span.

March 11, 2022
Late in the afternoon the department was dispatched to a dwelling fire on Lakeview Court in the Village at Valley Forge. Units arrived to a small fire on a balcony being held by a sprinkler. Crews quickly confirmed no extension and extinguished hot spots. The response was quickly scaled down, and crews were able to clear the scene in approximately one hour.

March 12, 2022
In the early morning hours, Engine 56-3 and Engine 56-4 responded to assist Norristown Fire Department on a two-alarm dwelling fire. Engine 56-3 arrived and was assigned the role of initial Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). Engine 56-4 covered Norristown Borough and responded to one alarm during the standby.

March 15, 2022
Around 4 pm, Engine 56 and Engine 56-4 responded to Norristown Borough for another dwelling fire. Engine 56 arrived as the fourth engine, secured its own water supply, and positioned in the rear alley. Engine 56’s crew stretched a second handline to the fire floor and assisted with overhaul. Engine 56-4 covered Norristown Borough and surrounding areas while the various departments operated on scene.
