This morning (December 13, 2022) at approximately 10:28 am, the department and mutual aid partners were dispatched for a vehicle rescue on the ramp from Route 202 North to Route 422 West.

The units arrived to a home heating fuel truck overturned with the driver trapped, and the load of over 2000 gallons of fuel leaking.
Within 10 minutes from dispatch, the first arriving units were able to quickly extricate the trapped driver who had became pinned between the door and cab.

Crews then turned their focus on mitigating the massive fuel leak. Due to the volume of the leak, Montgomery County Department of Public Safety HazMat Team responded. Dozens of booms, and nearly 1000 pounds of oil dry were deployed to absorb and control the leak.

Crews were on-scene for about 2 hours before the scene was turned over to PA State Police and environmental clean-up teams.
Thank you to our additional mutual-aid partners for their assistance!
