| Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS is celebrating Fire Prevention Month by visiting local preschools, nursery schools, and daycare centers to share important fire safety messages with children and teachers. Firefighters and Fire Prevention personnel are teaching children age-appropriate fire safety tips, including “Get Low and Go,” the importance of knowing two ways out, having working smoke alarms, and what to do when the smoke alarm sounds. Children also have the opportunity to meet firefighters and learn about the fire department's role in their community. This year’s Fire Prevention Month message, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” also provides an opportunity to teach children and staff about the importance of safely using and charging lithium-ion battery-powered devices. Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS encourages families and childcare providers to make fire safety a regular part of their conversations and emergency preparedness. To schedule a fire prevention visit for your facility, please call 610-205-8554. |
