Upper Merion Township Fire Department responded to the WaWa this morning just before lunch time. Montgomery County Dispatch advised that a car was on fire next to the gas pumps. Upon arrival of Chief 56 (Leis and Johnson) a single vehicle with an engine compartment on fire was right next to the gas pumps. All occupants of the vehicle were out and moved away from the dangerous fire.

Once we confirmed that all of the gas pumps were shut down and secured from the WaWa manager, firefighting efforts were initiated by Engine 56 utilizing a single handline. Engine 56-1 arrived and supplemented the water supply to Engine 56 and Engine 56-4 arrived and assisted at the scene.

Once the fire was extinguished all units cleared the scene within 40 mins.

Great job by all of our firefighters to quickly extinguish the fire.
